Day 01 Kota Kinabalu + Mar Mari Cultural Village (L/D)
Upon arrival at the airport, meet and greet our representatives, transfer to hotel. Check in, refresh and proceed to Mari Mari Cultural Village, which is located about 25 - 30 min away from the city.
You will be greeted into primitive Borneo by the chief of the Village. Experience a custom welcome ceremony, and begin the tour walking through the suspension bridge into the village. Explore the Duson House and be briefed on the tools and items used in the olden days and the materials equipped in the Duson House.
A separate entrance through the back door leads you to a hut specialized for bamboo cooking and Montoku (Rice wine) processing. You will be impressed with primitive skills to start fire without modern lighters or matches, ancient lifestyle and livelihood of the villagers with ropes, vests, floor and walls from tree barks of Murut tribe.
The Borneo Headhunters will demonstrate the blowpipe making and handling skills, tobacco cutting and how the local people tattoo their bodies using the old method. After the adventurous tour, drive out to the city for dinner. Transfer to hotel. Overnight in Kota Kinabalu.
Day 02 Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Spring (B/L/D)
After breakfast , proceed for 1 hour 30 minutes overland journey to Kinabalu Park, Malaysia’s 1st World Heritage site. Kinabalu Park was gazetted in 1964 with an area of 754sq km,known as Botanical paradise.
Mt. Kinabalu (4,095m) is the Highest Mountain in South East Asia with variety of flora and fauna that ranges over 4 climate zones; from rich lowland dipterocarp forest (tropical lowland rainforest trees) through the montane oak, rhododendron (popular shrub because of it's bright, beautiful flowers), to the coniferous forests, to the alpine meadow plants, and to the stunted bushes of summit zone.
The mountain is famous for its many carnivorous plant and orchid species, most notably the Nepenthes rajah. It is also home to a multitude of endemic animal species, including the Kinabalu Giant Red Leech and Kinabalu Giant Earthworm.
After visiting the stunning World Heritage and the cool and refreshing mountain air, a brief stop at Nabalu Town to shop for souvenirs. Later proceed for a visit to the Mountain Garden to learn more of the flowering plants found at Kinabalu National Park and Exhibition Hall have a choice for a relaxing moment with the cool weather at the park.
Set lunch at local restaurant will be served. After lunch, head on to a approximately 40km east of Kinabalu Park HQ to Poring Hot Spring. Mt. Kinabalu must have been an active volcano a million years ago, now seem natural wonder with hot sulphur spring simmering out of the earth.
De-stress and soak away the sores and aches of your muscles in the open air Japanese styled bathtub where spring’s hot sulphuric minerals, deemed to have healing properties and very popular among the locals.
Walk through Canopy walkway (41m) span, 157m linked from tree to tree, to get a magnificent bird’s eye view of the rainforest. Return to Kota Kinabalu for dinner, transfer to hotel. Overnight in Kota Kinabalu.
Day 03 Proboscis Monkey Tour (B/L/D)
After breakfast, free at own leisure till pick up for lunch in the vicinity of the Kota Kinabalu city.
After lunch, drive towards the southern part of Sabah, to enjoy the countryside and the panoramic view along the way, reaching the Wetland Forest Reserve, Klias River Boat Cruise. While cruising you will be able to spot the Proboscis monkey with a long nose and a bulging belly. In the Klias wetlands, it is quite common in Borneo. You will also be able to differentiate the female and male proboscis monkey by their appearance and behavior.
Also watch out for long-tailed macaques, silver-leaf monkeys, otters and crocodiles that are known to lurk in the mangrove waters. You will be delighted to spot some winged species here including the kingfisher, eagle, hornbill, gray heron, and white heron.
As you cruise till darkness set in, witness and be amazed by nature's Christmas lightings, the fireflies! Depending on weather condition and luck, you might even spot nocturnal animals like the flying fox and night bats. If possible, do bring along binoculars to have a better view of the animals. The cruise starts in the afternoon and ends in the evening. After the exciting river cruise, return to Kota Kinabalu, dinner and transfer to hotel. Overnight in Kota Kinabalu.
Day 04 Island Hopping (B/L/D)
After breakfast, proceed to Island Hopping jetty. A speedboat in just about 15 minutes takes you to the Mamutik Island. It is a gorgeous and an uninhabited Island with a lovely long stretch of sandy beach and the Jungle in the centre of the island.
Be at own leisure for the rest of the day either relaxing and tanning on tropical white sandy beaches or swimming and snorkeling in the crystal clear water of the South China Sea. There are other activities, you may enjoy at your (Own cost) - Water Sports such as Water-ski, Jet Ski, Wind Surf, Para-Sail etc. A splendid BBQ Lunch will be served. Evening depart from the island to the mainland. Dinner in the city and transfer to hotel. Overnight in Kota Kinabalu.
Day 05 Rungus Longhouse + Tip of Borneo (B/L/D)
After breakfast, proceed as early as possible for a 3 hours drive to the Ryan Tunnicliffe northern region of Sabah to visit the Honey Bee Farm (Bee Rearing Farm) at Kampung Sumangkap, Tinangol (Beads Centre) to experience the bead making and the Bavanggazo Village of The Rungus Longhouse of the Rungus community a sub-tribe of the Kadazan dusun. The Rungus Longhouse is built completely using local materials. Traditional native lunch will be served and cultural performance will be entertained at the longhouse.
After the Rungus community visit, prolong an hour journey heading to the Simpang Mengayau also known as the Northern Tip of Borneo. Enjoy the scenic view of the beautiful long white beaches where two oceans, the South China Sea and Sulu Sea meets. Dinner and drive back to Kota Kinabalu. Transfer to hotel. Overnight in Kota Kinabalu.
Day 06 Departure (B)
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airport for your onwards destination.
