Pulau Pangkor is a fishing village whose main economic activity is the fishery industry, located, off the coast of Perak in north-west peninsular Malaysia, reached by ferry from Lumut (a small coastal town that links to Ipoh, or from Sitiawan). It has a land area of only 8 square kilometers, and a population of approximately 25,000 islanders. It is heavily promoted as a low-key tourist destination by the Malaysian government, but fishing and fish products remain major industries.

In the 17th century, the Dutch built a fort to control the Perak tin trade. In 1874, it was the location of a historic treaty between a contender to the Perak throne and the British government (The Pangkor Treaty), which began the British colonial domination of the Malay Peninsular.

It fully deserves the name "Beautiful Island" as it is translated, and known for its pristine beaches and crystal clear blue water. A wide range of sun and sea activities are available such as scuba diving, wind-surfing, fishing, snorkelling.

Teluk Nipah, Coral Bay, and Pasir Bogak are some of the most attractive beaches on the island. Pangkor Laut, a smaller island of Pangkor, is equipped with a world-class resort, Pangkor Laut Resort.

Teluk Nipah is where visitors can enjoy excitement and solitude by the beach. Take in the soothing lush greenery or browse the open-air stalls by the beach. Before evening falls, take a walk across to Giam Island at low tide will reward you with a treasure trove of marine life. Enjoy the water sports activities at the beach. There are a lot of guesthouses, resorts, food stalls, and Malay seafood restaurants near Teluk Nipah. If interested, visit some temples at nearby vicinity. Walk back to the hotel. Overnight in Pangkor Island.
